Hello, I'm Owen and if you've come here then it's safe to assume you are thinking about counselling support for yourself or someone you care about. Making the decision to seek counselling shows a desire for change. Starting therapy demonstrates a commitment to making those changes happen. As a counsellor my job is to provide a space where my clients can learn how to make those changes and support them to live a better life and meet their potential.

About me and my practice

I work in private practice with clients aged from 14 to 82. My work with young people helps them to explore their choices and future. There are many transitions in our teenage years and I
have worked with young people to manage the anxieties and stresses around those changes, helping them to learn how to manage their emotions and grow in self-confidence. Working with young people is a privilege and an honour for any therapist and I have been able to witness many of my young clients grow and develop and to realise their potential. I have an enhanced DBS because of my work with younger clients. Working with Bereavement At any point of our lives we can feel loss. Whether that is the loss of a family member, a loved pet, a partner or a parent it can hit us hard and make us feel overwhelmed. Sometimes bereavement can be about the loss of potential futures, of childhood or even hope. Working closely with my clients I encourage them to talk through the difficult and complex emotions that embody loss and to find a way to move through the stages of grief. Talking about our grief to a counsellor can allow us to express anger, hurt and pain without the fear of judgement and with the aim of allowing those feelings expression. Often bereavement work can uncover deeper, older wounds which we have long ignored. Together we can find ways to cope with loss and to allow ourselves to heal. I also work with clients who feel stuck, whether that is in their relationships, career or lifestyle choices. Feeling stuck and overwhelmed can happen at any time though I believe that there are stages in life where these feelings can come to a head, times of real transition and change which can leave us feeling confused and uncertain wide awake at three in the morning or looking to unhealthy coping mechanisms to soothe our anxiety and distress. I believe that while our past has shaped us it is important for us to be able to look to
the future and find navigational tools to help us move forward.
